I. Sourcing
Every stone in the catalogue is cut from rough that has been Kimberley Process compliant for at least the duration of our trade relationship. The rough is cut in Surat (India) for the smaller carat weights and in Antwerp for the larger and the fancy colours. Both are members of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses and operate under the WFDB's code of conduct.
We do not deal in blood diamonds. We do not deal in conflict diamonds. The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme is honoured in full at every step. If you would like to see the Kimberley Process certificate for a specific stone at the time of viewing, we will produce it.
II. Grading
Every stone is graded by the International Gemological Institute (IGI). IGI is one of the three largest independent gem labs in the world and is the principal lab for stones under five carats in our trade. The IGI certificate is the stone's biography — carat weight, colour, clarity, cut, polish, symmetry, fluorescence, and a plotted diagram of the inclusions.
We attach the IGI certificate to every stone. We do not repackage or re-cut. We do not re-grade. If the certificate says VS2, the stone is VS2. If a stone has been re-graded by another lab at any point in its history, we will tell you so in writing.
III. Pricing & the 10% guarantee
Every Hyperluminous stone is priced at or below the Australian retail floor for its carat, colour, and clarity grade. We compute the floor every morning at four o'clock by scraping the public catalogues of the major Australian diamond retailers and taking the median, then listing at five percent below it. That is the headline price.
The 10% guarantee is this: if you find the identical stone — same IGI certificate number, same carat, colour, clarity, cut, polish, and symmetry — listed by an Australian competitor at a verifiable Australian ABN at a verifiable URL, at a lower price than ours, we will beat that price by ten percent. We will write the guarantee on the invoice.
Two conditions apply. First, the competitor's listing must be live at the moment you make the claim. Second, the 10% beat will not take our margin below eight percent of the wholesale cost of the stone — that is the floor. If a competitor is selling at a price below our wholesale cost, we will decline the match and tell you so, with numbers. The point of the guarantee is to be cheaper, not to go bankrupt.
IV. Delivery
Five business days from the moment payment clears, anywhere in Australia. The stone is shipped from our Sydney showroom in a velvet-lined, foam-sealed case, inside an unmarked outer carton, via DHL Express Worldwide or an equivalent carrier. The shipment is insured for the full invoice value. A signature is required on delivery.
If the carrier fails to deliver within five business days from payment cleared, we refund half the invoice. If the carrier fails to deliver within ten business days, we refund the full invoice and you keep the original case. We do not lose stones. The insurance is for you, not for us.
V. Returns
You have thirty days from the moment of delivery to return a stone for a full refund, no questions asked. You send it back in the original case, via the same insured carrier, signature-required. We refund the invoice amount on receipt and inspection. The return shipping is on us.
After thirty days, we will still take a stone back, but we reserve the right to charge a restocking fee of up to ten percent of the invoice value if the stone has been re-set, worn, or otherwise altered from the condition in which it was delivered.
VI. The showroom
The Hyperluminous showroom is one room at the Black Garter in Sydney, dressed in black velvet, lit by a single brass lamp, with the curtains drawn. We see visitors by appointment. We do not have a front-of-house team; the curator (H.) sees each visitor personally. There is no commission. There is no upsell. There is a tray of stones, a chair, and as long as you need.
VII. What we will not do
We will not cold-call you. We will not enrol you in a newsletter. We will not put a chat widget on this site. We will not email you about a stone you did not ask to see. We will not follow you on social media. The relationship begins when you write to us, and ends when you tell us it does.
